At the suggestion of publishers Dr. Ironside attempts to trace the history of Israel from the post captivity books of the Old Testament until Christ’s advent in Bethlehem. He found assistance in the Apocryphal book of I. Maccabees, Josephus, and other Jewish historians. In this book he attempts to draw lessons and warnings for those who wish to obey God and be separated for his purpose, through studying those who stood for God during the silent years, and considering the causes of their failures.
